Q: 1991 Honda Accord speedometer and odometer not working?
I have a 1991 Honda Accord LS. The speedometer and odometer keep on going on and off. They could work for miles and then suddenly stop working for miles. The Green Sports light is flashing on the dashboard. Can someone help me.
A: Uh no it runs from the transmission in through the firewall and into the gauge cluster you can go to a junk yard and pick up one for 15-20 bucks you might want to check and see if it did come loose from the trans if it didn't go to the junkyard and get a little practice taking one off another car not yours that way when you go to take yours apart you will know where the screws are and you don't break any thing
Q: Why does my 1991 Honda Accord SE fuel injection get poor gas mileage?
Why does my 1991 Honda Accord SE fuel injection get poor gas mileage? Before we moved to Southern California from Northern California we were getting over 300 miles a tank, and now we're getting barely over 200 miles a tank. What could be the problem?
A: Hi, I experienced the same issue with my honda civic. The elevation and air can be a issue with your cars performance and the way it intakes gas.
A way to increase more gas mileage is doing a full tune up. (oil, air intake filter, tire pressure, sparks, coolant..etc).
Another way to increase the gas mileage is change the oxygen sensor, the cleaner the flow of air and fuel will help your car perform better and receive better gas mileage.
Q: What is a good color green to paint a 1991 honda accord?
I have a 1991 honda accord and i want to paint it a green color but dont know what kind. i plan on putting rims and making it a raceing car.
A: Go to a paint supply house and look at the zillion (if thats a word) or so swatches. The car is yours and its your money - you should decide what color of green goes on it. Only you have to be "satisfied" with the color.
I would say "chartreuse" is a nice color but not on my car.
Okay - I'm kidding about "chartreuse" but how about "sage"????
Q: How come my 1991 honda accord works but has no power?
My 1991 Honda Accord works but there’s no power. It drives very slowly. What could be causing this?
A: more information would be nice??
Did it used to drive better? Does it sputter? Does it whine? Does it knock? Does it get hot...
there could be many things causing it. Try fuel filter replacement. If you havent change the oil. Run some total fuel system cleaner in it. Maybe some new plugs/wires. A full tune up never hurt an old car like that [except if the mechanic was a moron]
and dont listen to the one idiot who will come on and say because its an import buy a domestic or something like that.
Q: how much amp outage does a standard 1991 honda accord have?
Im trying to buy new speakers for my honda and want to know how much amp outage does a 1991 honda accord have? Also, what are the best speakers to buy and where can i get them?
A: I replaced the 6x9's in my girlfriend's 1993 Accord EX a week ago and they said 15w on the back, but I believe that's peak not RMS. They're probably more like 7.5w or so RMS. If you're on the stock radio, you're definately not going to see more than that 15w at the speakers, so if you want to take full advantage of new speakers you need to get a new head unit and an amplifier for the speakers. Though even just a new head unit would be a good improvement.
Q: How much could I get for my 1991 Honda Accord?
I bought the car a few months ago to learn to drive with and want to buy a newer car. Its a 1991 Honda Accord, EXI, 2 door, dark blue, sunroof, power doors, power windows, AC, cruise, new brakes and new spedometer (I paid for these), clean inside, paint peeling on the roof and small rust around the tire wells, Automatic. I live in Calgary, Alberta.
Yes, it runs very well. I paid $2100 Canadian for it.
A: Go to the Kelly Blue Book site. http://www.kbb.com/ It'll help you out.
Q: Did not pass emissions test on my 1991 Honda Accord?
I recently went into the e-test center to get an emissions test done on my 1991 Honda Accord EX. It passed everything except for the "High NOx on Driving Test" portion. I have heard that it is most likely the catalytic converter from several people, but really need to figure this out because I can't buy a sticker for my plates until I get an etest done, and I have about 10 days. I would really appreciate any tips/ideas you guys have. Thanks.
A: have the egr system checked ,the egr not working is the most common cause of high NOx just replacing the catalytic converter will only cover the problem for awhile
Q: what will make a 1991 honda accord ex automatic transmission not shift?
i have a 1991 Honda accord EX. i have changed the shift solenoid an my transmission fluid, but it still will not shift. is there anything else i can do?
A: I had a very similar problem. it just wouldn't shift after 35mph or so... I can tell you right now it is the transmission computer, it is located on the passengers side....under the floor.. by the feet. You can bring that into like auto zone and they will order you a new one.. or problably a fixed one. Good luck!!
Q: How to remove steering wheel from 1991 Honda Accord?
I bought a new factory steering wheel for my 1991 Honda Accord. because the old one was very flimsy. I want to replace the old with new, but can't figure out how to get the old steering wheel off. I see there is a 3/4" self-locking bolt in the center behind the H emblem, but I can't get it to move. If I try to loosen it the whole steering wheel turns with it. Short of taking the whole steering wheel apart, is this the way to get it off? Also, what steps are involved in putting the new one on?
A: you need an impact to take it off. once you take the nut off put it back on a couple of threads then you have to pull really hard a couple of times. the nut will keep it from hitting you in the teeth. or you can buy a steering wheel puller but it is not nessisary
Q: where is the iat sensor on a honda accord 1991?
i have a 1991 honda accord lx and i want to install a racing module and i need to splice it to the IAT sensor line.
A: the IAT is on the intake manifold on the left (driver's) side of te intake plenum. If you stand in front of the car on the driver's side and then look stratight back toward the rear of the engine compartment you'll see the brake master cylinder reservoir. If you move you're eyes in a straight line toward the engine from the master cylinder to the point where you see the cable for the accelerator running parallel to the front bumper you'll be looking in the vicinity of the intake air sensor. The IAT is bolted into the side of the intake plenum roughly behind the throttle body. It should have two cap head screws (one on each side) and an electrical connector snapped onto the sensor. The connector is probably black in color.
Hope that helps
Q: How can I turn off my 1991 Honda Accord's "Seat Belt Alert" (beeping noise) that's malfunctioning?
My 1991 Honda Accord recently starting flashing the seatbelt alert light on the dashboard, and making a beeping alert noise, even when my seatbelts are fastened. My seatbelts are fully functional, and it seems to be a problem with just the seatbelt alert wiring. I would like to disarm the alert by disconnecting wires going to the seatbelt alert box, however, I cannot seem to find a wiring schematic that would tell me which wires to disconnect. Does anyone know which wires I need to cut? Or is there another simple solution to my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as the beeping noise is really starting to get annoying!!! Thank you very much!
A: I would find the beeper location and simply clip and tape up the POWER wire to it. When you find the beeper, a simple 41.00 test light will show which wire is hot going to it. Be careful.
Q: How do I uninstall an Alpine 7513 car stereo from a 1991 Honda Accord?
I have this old Alpine 7513 (circa 1991) in a 1991 (oddly enough) Honda Accord. I want to uninstall it myself. Having never uninstalled a car stereo, I was wondering if it was worth my trying it, or getting professional help with it.
Thanks
A: It can be done yourself. I'm guessing you bought the car with the stereo already in it. The big question, is the previous owner, did they cut and splice wires, or use an adapter to hook-up the stereo. With the year of the vehicle it's iffy. If there was a connector harness available, it makes it much more easy to remove. You will need to remove the center console cover. It should have 4 screws holding it. Two on top, and two on bottom. This cover is what the Alpine is installed in.
On some of the Accords, you might even have to remove the console where the shifter is. You will need to shift the shifter as far away from the dash as possible. If an automatic, shift it to 1st, if a standard, shift it to 2nd and apply the emergency hand brake. Once the center cover is removed, everything attached to it will remove with the cover, then you can access the Alpine from the rear and expose the wires. At this time you will be able to determine, whether the wires were cut and spliced or was there a connector that was used. If you see a connector, then all you have to do is pull it apart and then start removing the Alpine by bending back the aluminum tabs with the cage that the Alpine is slid into.
If the unit's wires were cut and spliced, you will need to disconnect the battery under the hood, then cut each wire so you can remove the Alpine. Once you have the Alpine removed and the wires cut, I'd suggest taping the positive wire, so it doesn't touch something metal and blow the fuse. The positive wire is usually larger than all the others. In Honda's those years, if I remember correctly, it could be yellow, red, blue, or white (blue stripe).
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Q: Is it possible to put a mustang motor into a 1991 honda accord?
I have a 91 Honda accord just got a paint job on it 2,000 dollars, but in a 800 dollar sound system and I'm looking forward on doing a little maintainence on the carpet. But can I put a mustang motor into this car? No dumb answers please
A: In a word - forget it! There's no way the Honda will accept a 'Stang engine; besides being a front driver, the power of the Ford engine will tear it up faster than your wallet can empty (and THAT'S pretty darned quick!). If you're enamored of the Honda (and given the money you've wasted on it to date, you obviously do like the vehicle), why don't you just look into speed parts and/or engine rebuilds/modofications that actually are practical? Good luck!
Q: Should I keep my 1991 honda accord or take a 1994 izuzu rodeo?
mileage is about the same (150K for honda, 125K for rodeo), accord will need new tires and exhaust system prior to being inspected. izuzu will have inspection paid for, good for 1 year. i'm just trying to think long term.
A: i had a 92 accord that had 192k miles and it was still running strong! i only sold it cuz i needed a 4 door and mine was a coupe...... i would still be driving it!
