Q: Does a 2001 Honda CRV have a safety device that renders the suv undriveable after an accident?
My mom has a 2001 honda crv that got hit on the drivers side which caused damage to the hood, bumper and something in the wheel that makes a the suv unable to go beyond 5 mph. No broken windows, no damage to tire or wheel, no damgage that the eye can see where you would think the car is broken.
The hood is bent in slightly and the hinge is broken where the hood is attached to the body. No leakages of any kind and the rest of the suv looks brand new. What causes the honda to stop operating?
No check engine light comes on, there is a grinding noise on the drivers side. The engine revs up to 1 and a half and then it just comes down like it is going to stall.
A: If the check engine light is on it would indicate that an electrical sensor has been damaged. In some cases the car will run in what is called "limp-home" mode if the sensor that is damaged is a critical sensor such as the crankshaft position sensor that is used to determine when the fuel should be injected and when the spark plugs should fire.
if the check engine light is not on, your dealing with mechanical damage. From your description I would not be surprized to find that the exhaust pipe has been bent or crushed. when that happens the engine cant get the old air out to get the new air in so the engine power is dramatically reduced and the vehicle won't go very fast or very far.
You didn't mention if there were any unusual noises when driving. If you hear any clunks or scrapes then the problem could be interference with a drive axle. It doesn't sound like thats the problem if the tire and wheel are okay.
I think you're going to find out that the exhaust pipe is crushed unless the check engine light is on. if the check engine light is on, take it to a parts store, such as AutoZone or take it to a dealer and find out why the light is on. Then start the diagnosis as to what is wrong from that point
hope that helps
Q: How do you change bulb in honda crv?
I am trying to replace a burned out brake light in a honda 2004 crv. Hinge side.
A: Look in the back of the car and you should find an access panel for the taillights. The base of the bulb will twist out of the taillight housing.
Q: How large is the cargo space on a 2008 Honda CRV?
I am planning on buying a 2008 Honda CRV but have not gone out to test drive them yet. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how large the trunk/cargo space is on them? I have a large dog and would also like to be able to fit a bike back there too. Do you think it is large enough to fit a bike in the back?
A: This should tell you everything you want to know about an 08 CRV.

Q: I want to take my Honda CRV from Philippines to Spain. How do I find out if car will meet EC regulations?
I have a 2002 CRV bought in the Philippines - it was assembled here with many parts imported from Japan. I will be moving from Manila to Spain in the summer and am having difficulties establishing whether the car complies with EC standards on pollution, safety etc. Honda website not much use. A: bought a new on
Q: Why is it difficult to install a satelite radio in a honda crv?
Got a free radio when purchased honda crv last year. Son works at Honda dealership and says that it's a bother to install. Too much taking off dashboard, installing antenna, etc. Why all the bother. I thought that it would be so easy, wonder why the financing company would give it away. My radio is sitting in a box collecting dust.
A: Honda has begun to move to a custom size format on their DIN pockets for stereos. It's more of a marketing ploy so that they have to sell you a stereo for $300+ when you can get a much better one for about $150. For many cars, you'd have to buy new brackets and even a replacement dashboard kit to fit a normal radio in. Most dealers farm out the work to a stereo shop, so if you'd be better off going direct to them for the install to avoid Honda taking their cut.
Q: How Do I remove the dash speaker cover in my 08 Honda CRV?
I have an 08 Honda CRV LX. In the EX model there are dash speakers, the LX just has a removable plastic cover where the speakers would be if it were an EX model. I would like to remove this cover to place aftermarket speakers. Anyone know how to pop them out?
A: Check for any screws in the vents. If there aren't any, take a small flat blade screw driver and pry up a corner. Put a paint stick or something flat under the screw driver so as not to indent the dash.Try to get under the cover as much as possible before prying up.
Q: How much do you pay for your car payment I want to get a Honda Crv?
which is cheaper the Honda CRV or the Honda accord.
I have good credit just trying to get a good ideal on the payments.
A: It would depend on a couple of different things. First, do you have a trade in? A trade in will take off of the final price. Secondly, do you have any money saved up to put down on the new vehicle? Thirdly, how far are you willing to go on the terms?
All of the above determine what your payments will be. The longer the term, the more interest you pay but your payment will be cheaper. If you have money to put down (say $2,000), that could cut a lot off of your payment, etc.
Q: What to do if ABS indicator, VSA system indicator and brake system indicator flash together on Honda CRV?
I have a 2005 Honda CRV. The three system indicators - ABS, VSA, and brake flash on for a second approximately 1 - 2 minutes after I start the car. Any idea what I need to do?
A: add brake fluid
Q: How can I get my Honda CRV to start in the cold?
I have a honda CRV, that will NOT start when it has sat outside & the weather is cold. Sometimes when it is not too cold out (in the 40's) after some work the car will turn over but does this chug, chug, chug thing for up to a minute and then in a split second it's like the gas gets where it's supposed to and it revs and drives away as usual. When it's left outside below 30 degrees it will not start. When it is left in the garage it will start right up. The only thing tht has been done is the fuel filter has been changed. I'm at my second repair shop, now at the dealer. They can not find out what is wrong. They have said that the catalytic converter, MAP sensor?? and valves definitely need to be replaced, but even after relacing them they said it still might not work. Are catalytic converters that are going out temperature dependent? This non-starting in cold weather and ability to start right up in the garage has been repeated over and over by myself and repair shops.
A: Have you tried fuel-line deicer? Do you let your tank get almost empty before you get gas? If she's not getting the gas in cool weather, moisture in the gasoline would be the first suspect. I suppose you could try a block heater, but that shouldn't be necessary unless the temperature is in the teens.
Q: Is it easy to install an engine block warmer on a Honda CRV?
I have a 2007 honda CRV. I was looking into engine block warmers ( http://honda-parts-and-accessories.stores.yahoo.net/genhoncrvenb.html )
And I was wondering how easy something like this is to install.
A: There are different ones available. The ones that slide down into the oil dipdstick and the ones that attach in line to the lower radiator hose are the simlpest.
There is another that replaces the knock out freeze plug on the engine. Those are the most difficult.
The ad in your link really is vague. Try Auto-zone or Advanced Auto. I know they used to have them. Most deisel engines require some type of block heat to make the engine easier to start. (In colder climates)
Q: Tips for first maintenance for my 2008 Honda CRV?
I will drive to Boston from North Carolina on July 30. First time to drive such a long distance. I will go to maintain my Honda CRV tomorrow. I bought it last October and it has 4500 miles now. Never had any mechanical problems except that a rear tire ran over a nail in January. The hole was plugged.
Can you guys please give me some suggestions on any specific things I need to ask the technician at Honda dealer to check?
With many thanks!
A: Always change the oil every 3 thousand mile and check all other fluids, transmission, radiator, power steering and brake fluid. And remember to keep your ears open to any sudden changes in sounds your cars is making while driving.

Q: Anybody got a fix for the lack of passenger side legroom on Honda CRV?
I want a Honda CRV but my wife will not accept the lack of leg room on the passenger side. Is there a fix?
A: Ok, lets use common sense here. How could there be a fix to that?
Do like the person said above, remove the seat and have her sit in the back seat and stretch out all she wants.
Q: How can I turn the "check engine light off in my car" Honda CRV?
I have a catalytic converter that needs to be replaced but I won't be doing that for two weeks. I want to turn the check engine light off in my car. How can I do that ? Honda CRV 2000
A: Something is wrong, so fix it. If you mess with the CEL or it burns out or whatever you will not be able to smog the vehicle. Goodluck
