Q: What should the tire pressure be in a 2000 Honda CRV?
Help..Not sure what the tire pressure should be in my 2000 Honda CRV. The door jam says cold tire inflation pressure 26 psi..the tire says 44 max. At 26 psi, the tires look flat... Help! Running on flat tires?

A: the max on the tires is NOT the value to use. It is either in the FuelCap cover (a little white sticker) or us find the details in ur car manual. 26psi sounds ok, and you can add about 3-4psi but not too much, it will lenghten the stop and weaken the grip of the tires. they may look a bit like flat, compare it to other cars, their tires are also a bit flat due to their own weight.

Q: I have a 2000 Honda CRV make a squeaking noise from under the car will driving?
I thought is was the brakes had them check there are good. The sound comes when I am driving "forward or backwards". A friend said it could be my cv joint or something needs to greased. . The sound does not comes when stopping only when I am driving.

A: It could be your rear diff if it's AWD, have the fluid replaced with Honda stuff only. It could also be your universal joints on the prop shaft, (again if it's AWD).

Q: how do you reset the red dot on the bottom of the speedometer on a 2000 Honda CRV?
it's a service reminder.

A: I have the exact question, I've done what manual says with inserting key in off position and even while car is running and light is still on, I don't go by it anyway. I went to the link below and someone mentioned disconnecting the battery:: DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE CODE FOR THE RADIO!!!

Q: The brake light coming on during cold weather on a 2000 Honda CRV?
The brake light will turn on or be on when I leave for work in the morning in weather that is 60 degrees or below(I'm in S. Texas so it is rarely cold). After I drive it for about 10 minutes or so, it comes off and stays off. Do I need brake fluid or what?

A: A few possibilities: 1.Sticky float switch in the master cylinder. 2.Borderline fluid level in master cylinder (not likely, but possible) 3.Sticky brake light switch;located above brake pedal. BTW:If the brake fluid itself has not been replaced in tha last 3-5 yrs; (complete system flush) this is a good time to consider doing so. New fluid is clear with a slight gold tint. Old fluid will appear dark & dirty.

Q: How much does it cost to get airbags replaced in a 2000 honda crv?
both driver and passenger airbags

A: Here's a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag systems, airbag lights and resetting the system. It shows you the location of the components and the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/ You can check to see if your car is listed here. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/vehicles_list.aspx If the light is flashing on your car it's telling you there's a problem. On some vehicles, the light is flashing a two digit code. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing. Airbagsolutions.com has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong and how to fix it! Some vehicle manufacturers let you access and reset systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool. Although it’s a pay site ($14.95/day), it’s a lot cheaper than going to the dealer

Q: 2000 honda crv door lock wires for after market alarm?
dose any body know where the wires are for the door locks on a 2000 honda crv with key less entry as i am fitting an alarm

A: Hi your best way of doing this to be honest is wire them to the door light switch much easier and works on every door then . Hope this helps

Q: my 2000 honda crv will start but gear shift is locked?

A: Yep, you have to be standing on the brake. If this does not work, the the brake switch may be bad. Be sure your brake lights are coming on for one. There may also be more than one switch on your brake pedal. Press them in one at a time by hand and figure out which one is for your brake lights. This will tell you which one is not. For the one that is not, disconnect the connector on it and place a jumper wire acrossed the terminals. Try to shift from park. This will tell you if the switch is bad.

Q: 2000 Honda CRV with 118,000 miles. Should I replace my timing belt?
Also, the dealership is telling me it's going to cost $600 to do the work. Would it be cheaper to take it elsewhere or can I even buy the part and have a mechanic friend do it?

A: Yes, you should replace it, and yes you will probably do better somewhere other than a dealer. Dealer repair facilities are typically the highest price option. The belt itself isn't that expensive, but you have to remove a lot of junk to get at it, so labor cost is going to be high.

Q: Why is my 2000 Honda CRV vibrating?
My 2000 Honda AWD CRV vibrates between 80 and 100km/h. The salesman said it was because the tires were too worn (they were) so I changed them. The car still vibrated. Then he said it was because the tires hadn't been balanced, they balanced them and it still vibrates (though perhaps a little less). Does anyone have any ideas as to what may cause this problem? Help!!!

A: there are several possibilities but they depend on what's vibrating. do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel? Is the steering wheel shaking (oscilating)? or do you feel the vibration in the seat? if you feel it in the steering wheel its something in the front end. if you feel it in the seat it is someting in the rear. if you feel it in both its almost always a tire issue. regardless of where you feel it the first thing to do is to rotate the tires to see if that changes the vibration. if the steering wheel is shaking and you rotate the tires and the vibration moves to the seat or disappears then the problem is with the tires tht were on the front. ditto if the vibration moves from the seat to the steerign wheel--the problem would be with the tires that were on the rear. the only thing other than tires that is a common cause of vibrations on the 4wd CRV is rear end lubricant that is old. there are additives in the rear differential that become depleted with time. if you can't remember the last time you changed the differential oil then its time to do that (my guess is that you've never changed it). the old oil will make the 4wd engage or lock engaged and that will diefinitely cause the high speed vibration. its something you need to do regardless of whether or not its the caue of your vibration so start by getting a better handle on what its doing; rotate the tires ahd change the differential fluid and go from there. hope that helps

Q: What could be the problem when the check engine light is on in a 2000 Honda CRV-EX?
The light came on suddenly and stays on?

A: there could be many reasons why your light came on, 1. because it might be time to replace the timing belt. most all ohv engines are preset to turn on the at 60,000 mi. or so by the manf. or 2.it's possible that one of the OBD systems has set a code meaning there,s something that needs to repaired.

Q: If replacing the timing belt on 2000 Honda CRV w/120,000km do I need to replace water pump as well?
How about the tensioner? Are replacing these items overkill at this mileage. I drive 12,000km a year and vehicle is well cared for.

A: Do you NEED to replace the Water Pump? No. Can it be a good idea? Yes. The Timing Belt drives the water pump. To get to the water pump requires almost no additional labor if your already doing the belt. If you replace both at the same time you don't have to worry about the pump going out later and having to repeat that same labor expense all over again. Of course the pump may never go out, but you never know. This is purely a preventive maintenance recommendation. Same with the Timing Belt Tensioner and pulleys.

Q: I have 2000 honda crv my timing belt went and car is running on 3 cylinders..is it ok to drive car?
0-20 mph it rides rough smooth afterwards looking it to last 6 months till can afford new one..Please advise

A: if your timing belt broke your engine wouldn't be running. the timing belt keeps the upper engine (camshaft and valves) in time with the lower engine (crankshaft and pistons). if it breaks the engine simply doesn't run. I'll guess you have a spark plug wire that came off or a bad plug or wire. open the hood, look at the front of the engine. you'll see four wires going to the spark plugs from the distributor. make sure all four wires are pressed down securely. be sure to check the wires on the other end on the distributor cap as well there are other things that cause that condition such as a hung EGR valve but its not a timing belt. it should be safe but terribly inefficient to drive. check what you can and if at all possible stop by a shop and get a diagnosis if you can't fix it. I think you'll find one of them came off.

Q: 2000 Honda CRV 4wd or 2003 Pontiac Vibe AWD?
My wife wants either a Honda CRV or Pontiac Vibe. Has anyone had any experience with either of these? Which one drives better, has better fuel economy, and more room in the rear seats? Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A: Honda CRV is better And you can try http://www.usedcarsinfo.info/ 90% off Retail Value. Good luck!

Q: i have a 2000 honda crv and the windsheld wiper washer wont spray?
i already checked the fuses i fill the window washer full when i pull the swich it sounds like it going to spray but it does not spay

A: The washer pump is probably bad. Find the washer pump, disconnect, use a voltmeter to see if it is getting power when someone activates the switch. If it does, then you need to replace the pump. If it doesn't get power, it most likely is the switch.

Q: 2000 Honda CRV need to finance ?
Is it worth financing a 2000 Honda CRV with 135,000 miles on it? How much longer will this car last? The car costs $8500.00. The dealer told me they may not be able to finance it because its an old car, however then he tried to sell me a Hyundai senata...

A: Hey, if you can get a newer Santa Fe for the same price as that old worn out CRV I'd definitely go for it. He's right though, banks don't want to finance a car once it gets to 100,000 miles because they assume its a big risk the car will need a major repair and be useless to resell should you default. So, you need to find a used vehicle with under 100K miles which is very easy at the $8500 price range or you need to get $8500 cash from someplace. For $8500 you can likely get a 2004/5 Santa Fe with 2.7 litter V6 and under 75,000 miles. check your local http://www.craigslist.com for a much better deal.
