Q: 2004 Honda CRV Brake lights not working only when you lock the doors with keyless entry. Is this a fuse?
Thanks for all of the help from the mature people. I don't have a manual with this car so I was hoping someone could help. The fuse panel doesn't say where and which one the break fuse is. I will try the brake switch aswell. Thanks for the suggestions.
A: Is the keyless entry part of an aftermarket alarm system? My friend's 2005 CRV had similar bizarre electrical symptoms after an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry/ remote start system was installed. After hundreds of dollars and multiple trips to dealers and independent garages, nobody could pin down the problem. She ended up having it removed. If it is an aftermarket system, I would have it pulled out before you pull out all your hair!
Q: How do I change the light bulb for the blower control in a 2004 Honda CRV?
The bulb in the knob that indicates the air control for the heat/AC has gone out. How can this be changed?
A: I think you should be able to just pop the knob off and replace the bulb, However if you have less that 3 years or 36,000 miles it is still under warranty
Q: What is causing a high pitched hum on a 2004 Honda CRV?
The hum only happens when driving for more than 10 minutes or so, and it goes away when braking or turning. Seems to be coming from the passenger side, but not sure. Thanks.
A: Hi just for your information I am a service technician at Criswell Honda in Germantown, MD. I have heard a lot of people with this complaint and have deduced it down to the rear differential. What happens is when the dual pump differential fluid gets old, the friction material in it minimizes, causing the noise you're hearing. Go to your Honda dealer and get a differential drain/refill and that should take care of it.
Q: What fuse # controls the dome light on a 2004 Honda CRV?
I no longer have the users manual, hence asking a rather simple question. This fuse blows on a regular basis, any suggestions?
A: The CR-V I have may be slightly different to the one you have so my answer may not be entirely accurate though it may help.
The fuse for the interior light is located in the primary under-bonnet fuse box [large one near the battery, on the right hand side] and, on mine, is fuse number 3. There should be diagrams on the lid of the fuse box so you can check to make sure it's the right one. I haven't had the chance to see what the rating of the fuse is though but it shouldn't be too difficult for you to find out.
EDIT: Just had a look and it's a 15Amp fuse (Blue)
Q: How do I locate and replace 2004 honda crv cabin air filter?
A: The filters are located behind the glove compartment. Push on the 2 black retaining latches on the glove box to remove. Let glove box swing down on its hinges and expose the filter access door behind it.
Pull on the tab on the filter access door to release it. Set filter access door aside.
Grab the handle and slide out the first filter frame.
Slide the second filter frame to the left, then slide it out too.
Remove old filters from filter frames and insert new filters.
Ensure that Air Flow arrow is pointing down for both filters.
Reinstall in reverse order.
Q: Do you surf/swim,and have a HONDA CRV 2004?
I have a HONDA 2004 CRV,do you surf/swim,can or have you taken the key in the ocean(Pacific) and not have any problems, with the door opening or engine staring?Actually its my wifes car and she wants to know? Mahalo
A: Aloha:
You should have been given a 'valet' key when you got your car. It will let you open the front door, but not the trunk or anything else. And it will let you start the engine. It doesn't use computer chips (at least, I don't think it does!) I usually seal mine in a zip lock bag and put it in my outrigger pocket. The silly part of it is, once you get into your car via the front door, you can pop the trunk with the release beside the door, or open the back door manually, pull the seat button up and drop the back seat down to expose the trunk cavity.
Call your Honda dealer and make sure the valet key isn't equipped with a chip. If it is, you should be able to get a separate key made that will do nothing more than open the front door. Then you can put the ignition key and your regular clicker inside the car.

Q: Where is the fuse for the cigarette lighter on 2004 Honda CRV?
A: that fuse is in the interior fuse box under your driver's side dash panel. The fuse is in the middle row of the three horizontal rows of fuses. It is a 15A (15 amp) fuse; I think it is blue in color but I may be wrong on that. The fuse is the third fuse in from the right (passenger side). There should be a label on the inside of the fuse box cover that says something like "accy"
there is a fuse box under the hood as well. It has a black cover on it and it should be about 3" by 5"; it is usually on the passenger side back of the engine compartment but it may be in the driver's side front. That box has a list of fuses on th underside of the lid or stamped into the top of the plastic. There should be spare fuses in that box that you can use to replace the cigarette lighter fuse. The label for that fuse box will identify which fuses are 'spare' and you want the 15A fuse.
hope that helps
Q: how can you tell if a 2004 honda CRV is all wheel or 2-wheel?
is there something in the VIN number or something that would give me a clue? it isn't marked and their handbook doesn't state. Thanks!
A: the 2004 CRV EX model only comes with AWD, so that is easy. if it is the LX version it could be either FWD or AWD. the best way to check is look under the car and see if there is a driveshaft. the driveshaft is a big cylindrical piece of metal that goes from the transmission to the rear differential. It will be very obvious. If there is no driveshaft, it is FWD, if there is a driveshaft it is AWD
Q: my car is 2004 Honda CRV do i need to chage my brake fluid and bleed brake system?
A: in the us, there is not a recommendation for this but any where else it is recommended every two years. if you think about the nature of any dot brake fluid and its ability to absorb moisture, you know that that will change the effectiveness of the fluid. it is not a bad idea at all. but if you have abs brakes you need to be very careful. you should be cautious on any brakes but standard brakes do not have suck a potential for damage.
Q: does the honda crv 2004 need a timing belt or does it have a timing chain?
my crv has done 50,000 miles, in the manual it says the timing belt should be changed, but my mecanic freind says it has a timing chain is this true
A: Should be a belt
Replacement interval
up to 1998 60,000 miles or every 5 years
from 1998 72,000 miles or every 8 years
Q: how to remove a stuck cd from a 2004 Honda CRV changer.?
I've tried removing it from the front, no luck. Is there a pin hole eject button on the changer?
A: use pliers and a crowbar...this works everytime....the downfall is that you no longer have a cd changer which will prevent this problem in the future...:-)
Q: I want to change the stereo in my 2004 Honda CRV sport for a 6 stacker like the 2005+ models. How?
Where can I get a 6 stacker like the ones in the MY2005+ Honda CRV? Is it possible to put one into a 2004 model? How much will it cost? I'm on a tight budget and wondered if a wreckers or similar would be a good place to look. I'm a middle aged woman who has no idea of these things, have surfed around but found nothing. I don't really know where to look! Where do all the stereos in crashed cars go? I would really appreciate any information from the experts out there.
I'm in Australia
A: You can replace with a multi disc from 2002-2006.
Price on these radios from the dealer is not for someone on a tight budget. A local salvage yard may be able to supply one, just make sure you can return it if it is defective. eBay would be another source, but many of these come from salvage yards and have no warranty.
Here's a site that sells one with a 45 day warranty.

Wherever you get one, you will need the security code to activate the radio. Some dealers charge $50-90 to supply an unknown code.
Q: 2004 Honda CRV maintenance requirement light came on and off. please help?
OK. so my car has been driving good for a long time and I have done all the maintenance and record. however, I am modifying my CRV to make it to it best. any way. I drop to school and I drop back home. everything seem to be OK until I drove to work it was ok too than 4 hours later I decided to go eat lunch out with a friend of mine because I invited her. any way, When I turn the car into on position, the Maintenance requirement light came out, it flashes 10 than it disappear. so I turn it off and turn it on again and it flashes 10 times again so I turn it off than I start the car than again it the Maint. Req. flashes 10 times again than it disappear again just like before. so I check the cluster instrument and everything seem to be fine. No engine light on, ABS and SRS it fine even the Brakes a fine it still new but the only thing was on when I turn the key in ignition to on position was the oil and battery light. so that is normal like it said on the manual. so I don't know what seem to be the problem. it drives fine and I don't hear anything unusual. he is what I think might cause the problem. I install a cold air intake and its been 9 months now and second is that I install a Viper 721XY asd I just install an Tenable catback exhaust and it's been a month and half now. also my Drive seat it moves. its not steady, I tired to get it fix the last time I had my 50000 mile maintenance requirement. I though it could be the seat but the SRS is fine it's not flashing. so that's all I know that might cause the maintenance requirement light comes out but I'm not sure. the other thing I notice since I install the exhaust. I been smelling something inside the car like rubber, gas or the smell of exhaust when I drive or accelerate or when I do 65 and 75 mph. so that is all I know. I'm thinking of taking it to my nearest Honda Dealer on Saturday but I know their going to charge me a lot. so I will take to Auto Zone to run a test first and find out what's the problem. so if you have any idea of what seem to make my maintenance requirement light flashes 10 time please let me know and what can I do or how to fix it. thank you.
A: Just reset it,only to remind you to change oil.Hold the trip reset button in,then turn ignition key on,,wait until the light goes out before let go of the button.
Q: 2004 Honda CRV audio?
I just bought my 04 CRV. I am happy with it but the sounds system is kinda low. I looked under the front passenger seat and I found a compartment with some wires. The seat is not powered so I am guessing those wires are for an amplifier? or so.
I dont like the rear door speakers, do u think it will be better to get rid of them and install speakers or small sound system all the way at the back?
A: The wire's under the seat are not stereo wire's..
their are two main choices like you said, replace all the standard speakers or drop a set of subs in the back.. with replacing the standard speakers you will get better sound but may require an amp... with dropping a sub in the back you will gain low level sound (bass) but lose out on mid and high sound (treble) unless you get a setup with tweeters included, for this you will need an amp..
You might find your standard CD player wont have RCA outputs (needed for the amp) and you will have to change your CD player as well
Or do the lot, most car audio places offer package deals with installation included....
Q: how do I replace the left headlight on honda crv 2004 model?
A: if you are asking about replacing a burnt out bulb then:
Disconnect the 3P connector from the headlight bulb. This connector is on the back of the headlight and you can get to it by raising the hood and going to the back of the headlight housing.
Remove the rubber cover--it just pulls out from around the bulb once the connector is removed.
note the orientation of the prongs on the bulb so that you put the new bulb in the same way. then
Push the retaining spring down and away from the bulb. The spring will unhook from the tab and allow you to remove the bulb.
Install a new bulb in the reverse order of removal. Make sure the tabs on the notches in the bulb align with the tabs in the headlight
If you are asking about the headlight lens, the front bumper has to come off then you can get to the bolts that hold the lower headlamp assembly in.
hope that helps
