Q: honda crx!!!!!!!!!!?
how much would it cost to fully restore a honda crx, engine, transmission, radiator, everything. how much time would it take.

Q: What can go wrong with a Honda CRX HF if the distributor touches the positive post on the battery?
It's a 1989 Honda CRX HF. The distributor power wires were hooked up to the distributor and it was being installed when it touched the positive post on the battery. Now it has no spark. New distributor has been put in. Still no spark. Fuses under the hood have been checked and are all good.

A: It is possible that you blew the engine control computer. Let's hope that it is just a fusible link that blew. It will save you a lot of time and headaches , and possibly a lot of money, to not try "parts swapping" to fix it, but have a reputable mechanic at least check it out and give you a written prognosis and estimate. Get several of these from different places, not ones recommended by a previous place. Then compare notes and prices before you decide on your course of repair, be it yourself, or one of the shops.

Q: where can i find instructions to install a turbo on my Honda CRX?
My friend bought a 1990 honda crx. i have a honda crx si, and i was wondering if the parts for his turbo would be compatible since i have a bigger engine then he does. well anyways, i have all the turbo parts sitting in a box in my car right now just waiting to be installed, sooo.... is there some type of website that would tell me how to install it?

A: The method used should be pretty general. flyingmiata has down-loadable instructions for their kit. Some of the things to watch out for are- Is yours water and oil cooled? Where will you get the oil from and where will you plumb it back into? Some of these questions may be answered by looking at his, others will be more complicated.

Q: How many miles are Honda CRX models expected to last?
I want to buy a used 1989 Honda CRX which already has 232k miles on it and i want to know if I can expect much more out of it? Much Thanks!

A: It will most likely go to about 300K. If the oil has been changed and it has never overheated the motor will last. You will have problems with the distributor. They always fail and yours most likely has already been replaced by now. The radiator must always have heavy coolant, about 70%, and flow without any restrictions. Heavy coolant keeps the aluminum head from reacting with the iron block. I've seen coolant passages completely eaten away by low coolant concentrations. Under the cap look for any signs of scale or rust in the radiator. If there is any change the radiator and thermostat and flush out all residual coolant from the block. The radiator and thermostat will cost you about 140 dollars. The goal is to keep the engine from ever overheating because it dries out the valve stem seals and removes tension from the oil ring on the pistons. Then it smokes and uses excessive oil. If you like to wrench on it you can buy a used engine imported from Japan for about 200 dollars. The engine is popular in Japan so there is plenty of them to be sent to the USA. Only buy an engine imported from Japan. Do not buy a wrecking yard engine. It will have the same age and wear your engine already has. Used engines imported from japan are available from many importers in the Los Angeles area. They can ship anywhere.

Q: can a grille from a 1987 honda civic fit on a 1987 honda crx?
I was wondering if a grille from a 1987 honda civic would fit on a 1987 honda crx. I was also wondering if anyone knows where to find one.

A: it might fit if its a hatchback civic going on a crx since they have very similar front ends, ive known crx's to be compatible with civic and integra parts, the grill may need some slight modification to fit but nothing too serious edit** 4 door civics have a different front end on them compared to a hatchback civic, which is why i specified the difference,

Q: 1987 Honda CRX SI turns over but will not start. The plugs/wires and fuel pump were replaced?
My daughter bought a87 honda crx si for $300 but it was goign to need a clutch soon so she took it to a mechanicxs were they charged her $700 to replace it.The Auto mechanic took it for a test drive after the work was done and said it ran out of gas.She hput gas in the car right before she took it over to the shop. After the work was done the car starrted to run rough and then died on the freeway. She towed it and now it turns over but will not start. What could be the problem and what did the mechanic do to it?

A: Its like finding a needle in a haystack: the mechanic could have done 1001 things and the there could be 1001 things that could make it not go: In general theres three main things that should be checked 1. Fuel - take the air filter off and pump your foot on the gas pedal a few times... you should see fuel spurt into the carborator) 2. Ignition or Spark - undo the spark plug lead holding it a few millimeters from the sparkplug (HOLD THE RUBBER PART OF THE PLUG LEAD ONLY AND NO OTHER PART OF THE CAR) Turn the ignition over and you should see a spark 3. Air - while the filter is off check for the condition of the filter to make sure its not full of gunk. make sure you the airways are not blocked (the car should still start without the air filter) (these three things are what you need to make fire which is whats needed inside your engine to make it go) This is the simplest way by process of elimination My guess is that the mechanics didnt screw something back on properly and it fell off in transit. Something electrical. Get the mechanic to check it out again ... its still his responsibility (You have the right to ask what they did and to show you).

Q: What are the differences in the Honda Crx hf, dx, and si?
I know what hf, dx and si stand for. But i was told there are differnces in the actual hatches. I myself own a 1991 crx si, and my dad owns an 88 hf. So i was just wanting to know the structural differences, if any, between the three models

A: The motors are different, along with some interior parts. I know more about motors then I do about interior.. but heres what I can tell you; D15B2 1988-1991 CRX DX D15B6 1988-1989 CRX HF D16A6 1988-1991 CRX Si As a rule, most hondas that are "si's" come with sun roofs, and more power features like doorlocks, power mirrors ect. The HF was the cheapest one, and basically had the bare minimums. I believe radios and A/C weren't factory in the HF's. They put out around 62 HP. The DX is just the middle of the road model, had a bigger more powerful engine with about 92 horses. And the SI came with 105 horses, the injection, and power options.
