Q: I bought a 2004 Honda Pilot with only one key. Can I get a new one cut? Or do I have to go to a dealer? $$?
My wife and I just bought a 2004 Honda Pilot. It only came with one key. Will I be able to get one cut or will I have to go to a dealership? If so, is it expensive?
A: The key they are telling you to have cut will only open the doors. Even the Valet key has a chip in it.
All Pilots are equipped with the Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System. If you want a spare key just to unlock the doors it will be much cheaper to go to wal-mart, home depot and have one made. If you need a spare that will be used to drive, you will have to go to the dealer.
Q: How much does it cost to put a factory backup camera on a 2004 Honda Pilot with a navigation system?
Honda used to tell you on the website, but the new Pilots have standard backup camera's so they aren't an accessory anymore. I'm looking for an exact price. If not, an educated approximation would be great. Thanks.
A: It was not offered in that year sorry no software no camera
Q: My car is randomly honking after I start it. It is a 2004 Honda Pilot.?
I think it's something electrical. Any thoughts? cost?
A: Sounds like a short in the horn button inside the steering wheel. That's where I would look first.
Q: How do you reset the maintenance light in a 2004 Honda Pilot?
A: Hold down the Odometer reset button as you turn the key to the run position (don't need to start it). Wait a few second and the light will be out.
Q: Emission trouble code 1471 on a 2004 Honda Pilot?
Does anyone know what this indicates. My emission control warning light came on and this is the code that my mechanic says comes up.
A: Can't find P1471 on code lists. You sure about the mechanic. Usually after reading codes a mechanic will tell you at least what system is acting up if not the actual repair needed.
Q: What sound system comes stock in a 2004 honda pilot?
A: AM/FM CD Cassette w/ 7 speakers incl sub-woofer
Q: How do I add refrigerant to my 2004 Honda Pilot?
A: I assume by the word refrigerant you mean for the air conditioning. Go buy a recharge kit that has a pressure gauge with it. Open your hood and look for the metal pipe that runs from your compressor to your condenser. On that pipe will be either a black or blue cap. Remove that cap and you will find a valve. Attach the gauge to the valve. Follow the included directions. Find out what your pressure is because this will determine if you need to add any refrigerant. If you need to, attach your can of refrigerant and begin spraying. Again, follow your directions. During the entire time you are checking your pressure and filling it, you will need to have the engine running and the A/C set to max A/C. If you feel the least bit uncomfortable doing it yourself, take it to a mechanic.
Q: Oil Light Problem w/2004 Honda Pilot when starting?
In the mornings when starting my 2004 Honda Pilot, the red warning oil light comes on. I turn off the truck, and turn it on again and it is fine the rest of the day. I thought an oil change was the problem, but it did the same this morning. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong, I am going on a trip and I feel uncomfortable taking the truck.
A: I know this is going to sound weird but the problem is most likely that you have a bad battery. Most original equipment batteries last from 3-5 years and yours is in that range. As the battery ages the lead plates inside the battery get sulfated and the ability of the battery to regenerate through the chemical production of electricity is diminished. if the battery is low and you start the engine there is a voltage drop of more than 2.5 volts for 1 second and that is enough to trigger the oil warning lamp. the reason it doesn't happen on the second start is that the alternator produces electricity when the engine is running and that short superficial charge to the battery is enough to offset the drain from the starter motor so there is a voltage drop of less than 2.5 volts and that doesn't trip the oil light.
anyway, if that doesn't make sense, I'm sorry. just have your battery tested. honda dealers and Interstate battery dealers have digital battery testers that can tell you within 2 minutes if the cold cranking amps of the battery are up to minimal. My bet is the battery is due for replacement.
hope that helps
Q: I want to trade in my 2004 Honda Pilot. What's a cool, gas efficient replacement?
Please don't name any woossy cars/trucks. And definately not a minivan.
A: There is nothing cool about a honda or toyota quit hugging tree's and go for a viper.
Q: What are the best tires to buy for my 2004 Honda Pilot EX?
60% freeway, 40% local roads driving: 32,000 miles in 4 years
A: Buy the OE tires, if you have the stock rims, the manufacturer usually knows best when outfitting vehicle tires
Q: How much will a 2004 Honda Pilot cost in 3 years?
thanks
Leather, DVD
A: You didn't give much info.Whats the mileage? Is it the EX or LX version? What condition is it in?
Well I went on Kelly Blue Book and a 2004 Pilot EX in good condition with 75,000 miles is worth 13,340 right now in 2008.
I'm guessing it will be somewhere between 5,000-10,000

Q: I have 2004 Honda Pilot. Can I add a factory navigation to it?
A: not unless it had a GPS as an option, and, maybe, not even then.
the reason is there is no place for a factory GPS to go, unless it had one available. you will, definitely, find it will be cheaper to go with an after market one even if one could be retrofitted. for less than $500 you can get a really high quality unit that will also let you use it out of the car. you would be REALLY lucky to get out with twice that with a factory unit and it would not be nearly a good a unit, because you would be buying 2004 technology versus 2007 technology.
Q: 2004 honda pilot vtm-4 trouble code and transmission (icon) light?
These two appear after driving for a short time. I have an idea of what the vtm-4 light is. I do not know why the transmission (icon) light appears. I am trying to get a better idea of what the cost may be for repairs. The vehicle has 105K on it and has been serviced properly.
A: Check this out first, hope that it helps......
NHTSA Recall #04V176000 POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2004 HONDA PILOT -- On some mini vans, sport utility and passenger vehicles, certain operating conditions can result in heat build-up between the countershaft and secondary shaft second gears in the automatic transmission, eventually leading to gear tooth chipping or gear breakage.
Gear failure could result in transmission lockup, which could result in a crash.
On vehicles with 15,000 miles or less, the dealer will update the transmission with a simple revision to the oil cooler return line to increase lubrication to the second gear.
On vehicles with more than 15,000 miles, the dealer will inspect the transmission to identify gears that have already experienced discoloration due to overheating. If discoloration exists, the transmission will be replaced if discoloration is not present, the dealer will perform the revision to the oil cooler return line.
The recall began on April 21, 2004, for Pilot, Odyssey, and MDX owners. Owners of the Accord vehicles will start receiving letters on June 28, 2004, and on June 29, 2004, for owners of the TL and cl vehicles.
Owners should contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 or Acura at 1-800-382-2238.
Q: 2004 honda pilot-my wipers will not turn off-anyone know why and how to fix, or where the fusebox is located?
A: I,m not a Honda mechanic but usually when wipers won,t stop or park it turns out to be a bad wiper motor. There is a park mechanism inside the motor that usually goes bad.
Q: which is better, 2004 acura mdx or 2004 honda pilot?
i am buying a used car and i am wondering which it a better purchase. Any past expereiences with these cars would be helpful. thanks
A: both of them are excellent vehicles-depends on how well they were maintained. How many miles on them, etc. Test drive them and then decide.
