Q: How are tire pressure monitor systems (TPMS) attached to the wheels of a 2005 Honda Pilot?
I am planning to replace the stock rims on a 2005 Honda Pilot LX with rims from a Pilot EX. I'm told the TPMS light will be lit all the time if you do not have the sensors attached. Are they on the inside or outside of the rim and how are they removed? Thanks.
A: the tpms sensors are attatched to the back of the valve stem....they are easy to replace and easy to break so be careful
Q: Where should we insert Navigation disc for 2005 Honda Pilot. Is it into the slot for the audio CD?
Where should we insert Navigation disc for 2005 Honda Pilot. Is it into the slot for the audio CD?
A: Check under the front seat.
Q: Why do you need a valet key to reprogram keyless entry remotes for a 2005 Honda Pilot?
There is no transmitter on it, Dealership could not explain why it was needed.
A: you don't. if you are reprogramming the immobilizer system or adding a new key you need all of the keys. if you are simply reprogramming the remotes you only need the remotes and not the valet key.
you can reprogram the remotes yourself.
note: you need to be sitting in the car with the doors shut for this to work. its easier to do this if you have two remotes. if you only have one you have to press the buttons on the key that is in the ignition. if you have two, you can use one key to turn the ignition on and off and the other to operate the lock and unlock buttons on the remote.
to reprogram a remote, put the key into the ignition switch. then turn the ignition to the ON position (you do not have to start the engine) when the lights on the dash come on, press the lock button on the remote within 5 seconds then turn the key to the OFF position
repeat that procedure 3 more times. On the 4th time you should hear the doors lock. when that happens, unlock the door with the remote then, without turning the key in the ignition off, use the other remote to unlock and lock the doors
then turn the ignition key off. both remotes will now be programmed to a new rolling code. if you only have one remote, then lock and unlock the doors and then turn the ignition key off
hope that helps

Q: which would be better to refinance a 2005 Honda pilot with only 31k miles on it or trade it in?
for a 2008 Honda Accord. I need to lower my monthly car payment
i owe 21k on the pilot fully loaded great condition I bought the truck used two years ago (with only 8K miles) my interest is a 8%. I have 46 more payments.I love the truck but really need to lower my payment. my monthly payment is $560.00
just wanted to add my credit score is 725
A: Trade it in, take the hit, and LEASE the Accord. That way you will only be paying for the negative for 3 years, instead of 5-6 on a traditional loan.
Q: I need to refinance my 2005 Honda pilot Is Bank of America a good bank to try or Chase?
I need to cut my truck payment right now I pay $570. monthly, I still owe 3 and a half years. I have no problem with extending the loan for another year. My current interest rate is a 8%, I have good credit.
I bought the truck used with 8k miles on it that was 2 and a half years ago now the truck has 30k miles on it.
A: First of all, you should worry more about the rate offered than the bank itself. Usually credit unions have better auto rates than the big banks. Also, the first thing you need to do is go online and find out what the value of your truck is right now. A good site to go to is kbb.com. If the value of your truck is less than what you owe, then you will probably not be able to refinance it anywhere. A lot of people don't understand that the value of vehicles depreciate extremely fast and that is what makes it hard to refinance a vehicle note.
Q: How do you program the garage door opener in a 2005 Honda Pilot?
I don't have the owners manual
A: 1. If your door opener is > 10 years old, it may never work.
2. If your opener is relatively new, you should be OK. Start by clearing all existing codes. Hold down 1st and 3rd buttons for 20 seconds, I think.
3. Follow the basic programming procedure - unplug opener, hold remote up to HomeLink buttons, press remote button, press selected HL button, hold both for 5 secs.
4. Repeat 3.
5. Plug opener in again and see if it worked - for older doors w/o rolling code, it should work.
6. If it doesn't work, you probably have rolling code. Find the programming button on your opener motor unit and press it until the light comes on. You might have to remove the light cover to get at the button.
7. Run like an idiot to your Pilot and press the HL button you are trying to program - hold for 5 seconds.
8. Repeat step 7. 2 more times to be safe (without running - you should be there already )
9. Wait about 30 seconds or untill the programming light on your opener goes off, then try the HL button to see if it works.
NOTE: The key with rolling code is that the remote control programming (2. through 5. above) still has to be done before the rolling code opener motor unit programming (6. through 9.). Both must be done in order to get it to work properly.
10. If it still doesn't work, check the Home Link web site for compatibility issues with your brand of opener.
11. If all else fails, it is possible HL may be defective - you may have to find a friend with a different garage door to try programming again.
Q: How do I read the error code on my 2005 Honda Pilot? (The check engine light is on.)?
I replaced the VTM-4 fluid about 10 days ago. The Pilot has 20,000 miles. Now the check engine light came on and my wife thinks the VTM-4 light came on as well while driving but it's not on now (but the check engine light is still on). I want to read the code for the check engine light but can't figure out how. I have the service manual but couldn't find the procedure anywhere (it's not under check, engine or light in the index).
A: First of all, almost every condition that can cause the MIL to illuminate is covered under the 3 year/50000 mile emissions warranty from Honda. the only exceptions are if you left the gas cap off or loose or if there is damage such as a mouse eating through the wiring harness.
secondly, I've seen several Pilots that have the VTM-4 light and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (check engine light) come on for an engine misfire. the misfire reduces the engine power and 'tricks' the pcm into thinking the vehicle is in traction control mode which similarly cuts out cylinders to restore traction. that's why the VTM-4 light comes on. I don't remember if it is the EGR valve or the IAC valve that caused it. Regardless, your Honda dealer should take care of it for free.
If you want to know what the code is without buying a code checker or generic scan tool, you can stop by an AAMCO transmission shop as they advertise a free diagnosis. Your honda dealer will probably tell you there's a charge for diagnosis if the repair is not covered under warranty to cover their time. Again, unless you left the gas cap off or a mouse built a nest in the engine compartment, the repairs should be under the 3 year/50000 mile emissions warranty regardless of where you bought the Pilot or if you are a second owner. The warranty is on the vehicle, not the owner.
hope that helps
Q: Do you think it's possible to trade in a 2005 Honda Pilot for a new accord?
right now I'm in a up side down loan ony by 3k, I love myt truck but the gas is starting to hurt us. I have been conceding tradeing my truck to lower my payment monthly and also to save money on gas. is it possible? I have good credit
my pilot only has 31k miles on it.
A: Most likely this will work.
Q: how much is mpg on the 2005 honda pilot?
and what is the tank capacity
also chevy suburban 99' 42 gallon capacity what is the mpg on that. THANX LATER.
A: City: 15 mpg
Highway: 20 mpg
Combined: 17 mpg
with today's gas prices, this is probably not the car you are looking for!
Q: 2005 Honda Pilot Rear Door Rattles?
I just bought a 2005 Honda Pilot and the back tailgate rattles everytime I go over a bump. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's out of warranty. Thanks!
A: It is possible the latch in the door casing needs a slight adjustment. Any mechanic, or body shop person should be able to fix it in about 5 minutes...If they charge you any more than $10.00 for that, they are cheating you. I'd ask how much they would charge, then offer $10.00!!
Q: I had to replace my battery in my 2005 Honda Pilot now the radio is asking for code?
I called the dealership where I bought the truck, they said check the glove box, I told them I already tryed that it was not the, then he told me to bring the truck in the pull out the radio and give me the code. the only problem is that thay want $108.00 to do that, is the a cheaper way
A: there are a few ways to find the code. if you've already looked for the stickers then #5 is probably the way for you to go
1) look in the paperwork that came with the car. there should be a white credit card with the anti-theft code on it.
2) if that's not to be found, look inside the glove box for a white sticker that would be placed on the walls of the glove box. it may have 5 numbers on it or a string of 9-10 letters and numbers. or two rows with the 5 numbers above the 9-10 letters and numbers. If you find the 5 numbers on the sticker, that is your radio reactivation code and you can enter that to reactivate the radio.
3) if you find the 9-10 letters and numbers sticker, that is the serial number for your radio. if you call a honda dealer and give them the serial number they can get the code for you
4) if you can't find the sticker in the glove box, look behind the ash tray (if there is one in that car) or look under the trunk lid as some dealers put the stickers there instead of in the glove box.
5) if you can't find the stickers, then try to retrieve the radio serial number by following this procedure. with the key in the ignition and turned to the ON position but with the radio OFF, press in and hold in the station preset buttons number 1 & 6 with your right hand. Then, while holding the buttons in, turn the radio on with your left hand. You should see a string of 5 digits starting with the letter "U". it will stay on for about 10 seconds and switch to a second string starting with the letter "L". if you get this, then write them down in that order. The string will repeat 3X. When you have the numbers written UxxxLxxx, call your honda dealer and give them those numbers--they are the serial number for the radio and the honda dealer can get the code from that string.
if you can't find the stickers or retrieve the serial number then you'll have to remove the radio to get the serial number off of the back of the radio. The radio codes are individual to the radio and not to the car and there is not other way to do it at that point.
hope that helps
Q: 2005 Honda pilot, what exactly does the dealer do for the maintenance when maintenance require light comes ?
would it effect my truck bad if i didn't take it in for the maintenance right away, I take my truck every 3,000 miles for the oil change, last time they charged me $200 just for the maintenance. I want to wait till after the holiday's for the maintenance.
I only have 33k miles on my truck
A: all they really do is change your oil check fluids and find any problems they can charge you extra for air filter and so on make them show you the condition of the parts before you give an ok. as long as you keep your fluids in the vehicle and its seems to be running ok, and continue to do your oil change every 3000 miles the reset procedure is as follows: have the car off hold in your trip reset button and then while still holding the trip reset button turn the key to the run position but don't start it, continue to hold the button you will see 5 little lines then 4 then three two one none when the lines are gone shut off the car then start it back up and your light should go out and will come back on in @ 10,000 miles
Q: I want to refinance my 2005 Honda Pilot, is it possible?
my current payoff is 23k I took out the loan for 6 years and still owe for 4 years
I originally paid 29k for the truck but I had a trade in , that I was upside on that loan.
my interest was around a 8%.
I was going to trade the truck in for something cheaper but instead decide to refinance the truck to bring down the payment.
what is a good bank to try to refinance my truck through?
A: yes u can but u should go directly to the bank. Companies make thousands on refis and you wont even know it. They charge points and the bank will too but way less. have a professional accountant look over the papers before u sign and hope all goes well! Good luck
Q: does the 2004 or 2005 Honda Pilot come standard w/ rear curtain airbags?
I'm looking at getting a Honda Pilot but want to know if they have rear curtain airbags standard. It will help determine if I should get a 2004, 2005 or maybe even a 2006.
A: there are no side curtain airbags on either the 2004 or 2005 models. the only air bags on those models are the drivers front; passenger front; drivers side and passenger side air bags. the side airbags are housed in the side of the front seats and fill the gap between the side of the seat and the door in a collision that tiggers those airbags.
there are no rear seat air bags nor any roof mounted side curtain air bags on those year Pilots
hope that helps
Q: how to get the serial number and enter the activation code once you have it for the honda pilot 2005?
turn off the radio
enter the 1 and 6 buttons simultaneously hold them down while you hit the power up button. this will give you one number then release the buttons and it will give you the other number. When code appears enter the activation code. Or I think this is what I did.
A: no...if it's the stereo...you have to have a CARD that came with the car, in the glove box, OR call Honda and give them your VIN # and they'll give you the code for the stereo...
Otherwise you're in trouble, it won't work.
